The forbidden books department of a library is precisely
what we must absolutely conceal! This department
retains every licentious works that the edition and the art
may have produced: prints, engravings, libertine postcards,
written pornographic materials, censored or X-rated pieces.
When the French National Library (BNF) proposed us this promising,
unusual and shameless subject, our agency found itself
faced with a fantasised collection which had never been showcased.
The audacity predominates, with commissioners who clearly want to have fun!
Let’s dare! The stage set is designed to encourage voyeurism
but in this case, it is the visitor who is observed. We conceived the space
so that no individual could isolate himself with the highly coveted works.
The performance is therefore equally in the exhibition room and on the
picture rails (entirely pink, from floor to ceiling). The exhibition witnessed
a record attendance at the BNF, which had never welcomed so many visitors.
We must specify that the c-album workshop we often work with,
also carries out a bold intervention on the facade of one of the towers
of the great building: a gigantic and highly suggestive florescent pink X.
