The Yves Saint Laurent retrospective invites 200 models that capture the designer’s entire work. We chose the approach of staging: the whole work is released from the showcases with the exception of the famous heart-shaped jewel, with which YSL adorned his fetish model at the presentation of each couture collections. Freed from the display cabinets, the dresses seem to relive on invisible bodies, a renewed vitality that we have emphasised by presenting the multitude of fabric scraps, carefully preserved by YSL under fans. The explosion of colours that radiates the two great exit walls comes from the designer’s palette, with whom we had worked with during his lifetime. He then had the temerity to mix different shades that could only be imposed by him. For the retrospective, we reuse his colour chart, the references of which we had meticulously noted, as faithful disciples. With this "posthumous signing", the exhibition travels worldwide and we follow it from San Francisco to Montreal via Denver. The public still has plenty to look forward to, there is still a tremendous potential in the work of YSL!
